What is EFT Tapping?
Tapping is an energetic practice that is rooted Traditional Chinese Medicine and is grounded in the the same science as Acupuncture. Rather than using needles to stimulate the meridian points, like in Acupuncture, in tapping you use the pressure of your fingertips (and a tapping motion) to activate the meridians.
Tapping combines ancient Chinese acupressure with modern-day psychology and was designed to help restore balance to the energetic body.
“Tapping”
is the nickname for Emotional Freedom Technique (aka, EFT), because you are tapping on the body’s meridian points.
While Tapping is technically a more modern-day practice (it was founded in the 1990's by a man named Gary Craig) the wisdom behind tapping is truly ancient - we’re talking thousandsss of years old!

What does that mean … how does energy move or get stuck in the body in the first place?
First of all, everything is energy. You may look like a solid, physical being but every atom and particle that makes up who you are in this human body is energy that is vibrating.
Remember: tapping is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qi (“chi”) or Life Energy flows through the meridians in the body. Think of the meridians like energetic highways.
Just like traffic on the highways that we drive on, energy can become stuck or slow or stagnant in the body.
Energy in its highest vibration flows freely, unobstructed. But as you move through life so much can happen that causes energy to become stagnant or blocked in the body.

When we don’t feel safe or able to process emotions (or we don’t know how), that emotion/energy can become stuck in the body. So often, this happens unconsciously on an energetic level that you are not aware of.
Your energy is meant to flow freely. So when these disruptions happen your physical body experiences the impact of that mentally, emotionally, and physically.
As you tap on the meridian points, think of it as shaking loose a stuck ball in a tube … you are creating an energetic force that helps to free up any stuck or blocked energy. By doing that, you restore balance to the energetic body, bringing yourself back into harmony and alignment.
And by restoring balance to the energetic body, you can shift and heal mental, emotional, and physical symptoms that may have been rooted in that energy disruption.
As you’re tapping, you are also helping to calm and regulate your nervous system. You shifting the body out of the sympathetic nervous system (the system that’s activated in a high stress state) and into the parasympathetic nervous system (the system of restoration and homeostasis).
So many people are moving through life in a constant or chronic high stress state. It can wreak havoc on your mind and body and how you feel as you move through life. It also leaves you deeply disconnected from your true self and your intuition.
Through tapping’s ability to calm the nervous system, clear unprocessed emotions and trauma, and reprogram the mind-body response, you can find a more grounded way of being that allows you to feel more whole, more free, and more empowered as you more through your days.
