What Your Intuition Really Is and How to Build this Relationship
What is your intuition?
Oh, my beautiful friend, I’m so glad your journey led you to asking this question, or at least reading this post where I’m going to answer it. :)
I believe your relationship with your intuition is the most important relationship you’ll ever have, and in order to really build and cultivate that connection you first need to understand what your intuition is.
When you do, you’re going to feel a greater sense of awe and wonder about this connection that’s always existed within you and you’re going to feel more empowered to begin trusting it more and letting the doubt and fear fall away.

Intuition vs. Instinct:
an important differentiation
A misconception is that instinct = intuition.
Instinct is a response to a stimuli that’s rooted in your embodied human experience.
Intuition is divine guidance that’s rooted in your non-physical connection to the infinite being you really are.
Instinct is there to keep you safe and keep you alive.
Intuition is there to help you expand. To your intuition, which is your connection to soul knowing, you are always and infinitely safe.
Instinct looks outside of you, at the world around you, to gather information (am I safe? is this the right choice? is this what my body needs).
Intuition looks within your soul-knowing to gather wisdom and guide you forward.
Your intuition is very different than instinct, my love. Understanding this will help you begin to attune to those subtle differences between a divine download and an anxious thought.
So, what is intuition?
Intuition is your connection to the divine. It is your connection to Soul, Higher Self, the Universe, God, Spirit Guides.
Now, that you have a more whole understanding of your intuition, it’s time to begin cultivating this beautiful connection with the divine wisdom that you are journeying through this lifetime with.
I want you to think of your relationship with your intuition like you would any other relationship in this life. In order to get to know it more deeply and in order to cultivate trust, you must spend time in conversation. Ask questions. Listen for the answers. Ask more questions. The more often you do this, the more familiar the voice of your intuition will become and the more confident you’ll be in differentiating between whether a message is from your intuition or not. And the more confident you become in knowing what is truly your intuition, the more easefully you’ll begin to live from your intuition. And that, my love, if where the magic begins and where your life starts to shift from the inside out!
I created Dear Intuition: A Year of Questions for Your Intuition to help you spend more time in conversation with your intuition, cultivating this trust and connection, and channeling the divine wisdom that is guiding you.
